Chevrolet has introduced a special Collector’s Edition trim for the Chevrolet Camaro to celebrate the discontinuation of the iconic two-door sports car. The announcement was made in March, confirming that the current sixth-generation Camaro will be phased out by January with no immediate plans for a replacement. While Chevy aims to transition to an all-electric brand by 2035, it will continue producing V8-powered versions of the Corvette and its larger trucks.
Although rumours suggest a potential electric Camaro in the future, Chevrolet has stated that while there is no immediate successor, this does not mark the end of the Camaro’s story. The Collector’s Edition pays homage to the original 1967 Camaro, which was developed under the codename “Panther.”
The Collector’s Edition will be available in various trims, including the 1LT, LT1, SS coupe, and convertible. It features Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat paint, satin black stripes, and 20-inch satin black wheels. The top-of-the-line ZL1 model, equipped with a powerful 650 hp supercharged V8 engine, comes with Panther Black Matte paint, black lug nuts, and the aggressive ZL1 1LE front splitter and rear wing.
Optional silver wheels are available for the LT1, LT1, and SS trims, accompanied by the inclusion of the front splitter sourced from the high-performance Camaro 1LE package. Coupe models will have an added ZL1 rear spoiler. The Collector’s Edition showcases Panther logos integrated into the front fender badges and steering wheel. As an additional highlight, all cars will come with a commemorative Shinola Canfield Sport 45mm watch featuring the logo on its face.
As the Chevrolet Camaro enters this new phase, fans and enthusiasts can look forward to the Collector’s Edition as a tribute to its remarkable legacy. While the future of the Camaro remains uncertain, Chevrolet’s commitment to innovation and evolution ensures that the spirit of the Camaro will live on.
